Javier Domínguez-Ortega, MD, obtained his PhD at the Complutense University in Madrid. He is an Allergist since 2001, after 4y training at the San Carlos Clinical Hospital in Madrid. He also completed a training period in Sweden in the Paediatrics Division of the University of Linköping. He started working as an allergist in Barcelona, later in Zamora (2001-2004) and being the Head of the Allergology Unit at Getafe University Hospital until 2013. Since then, he is working in the Allergology Department in Hospital La Paz (Madrid).

He was Coordinator of the Youth Committee (CAJMIR) of the Spanish Allergy Society (SEAIC) until 2006, member of the Board of SEAIC (2006-2010), coordinator of the Immunotherapy and Asthma Interest group (2014-20189, and he is currently the President of the Asthma Committee. He has participated as a Collaborating Professor of the Respiratory Program of the European University of Madrid and has been a Collaborating Tutor of the Carlos III Institute School of Work. He has coordinated the Allergy Strategic Plan 2011-2015 in Madrid.

He has been a reviewer for the Spanish National Asthma Guidelines (GEMA 4.0 and for updates from GEMA 4.1 to GEMA 4.4) and he has participated as a writer in the last version GEMA 5-0. He is the main author and co-author of different chapters of Allergy and Asthma Books and more than 120 publications in journals indexed in PUBMED.
