Dr Alejandro Gallego studied Medicine at the University of Salamanca. After five years of training as a Medical Oncology resident doctor at La Paz University Hospital, he was appointed as a clinical assistant physician in the Gynecological Cancer Unit and Hereditary Cancer Unit at the same hospital. During his career Dr Gallego has been widely interested in clinical and translational research in this field and he has been awarded with the 7th Jan Vermorken Research Grant for Research in Gynecological Cancer. He is also a member of the Research Translational Oncology Group at Hospital La Paz Institute for Health Research and in the last few years, he has been involved in some of the most relevant clinical trials in gynecological cancer.

Dr Gallego is the author of several publications and communications to national and international conferences in gynecological cancer. He is also especially involved in the medical training of new Medical Oncology residents.

Dr Gallego is an active member of the Spanish and European Societies of Medical Oncology (SEOM, ESMO) and a member of the Spanish Group for Investigation on Ovarian Cancer (GEICO) and The European Organisation for Treatment of Trophoblastic Diseases (EOTTD).
