Dr. Gerard Espinosa (MD PhD) is a Consultant in the Department of Autoimmune Diseases (Hospital Clinic, Barcelona, Spain). Dr. Gerard Espinosa qualified in Medicine in 1991 from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and he trained in Internal Medicine at the Hospital Clinic de Barcelona from 1993 to 1998. He obtained his PhD degree in 2003 from the Universitat de Barcelona for his thesis on thrombotic mechanisms in antiphospholipid syndrome and vasculitis. Over the last 10 years, Dr. Espinosa has investigated systemic autoimmune diseases, focusing on antiphospholipid syndrome and its variant catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, Behçet’s disease, and systemic sclerosis. He has participated in several workshops and meetings as invited speaker. Dr. Espinosa is an Associated Professor of the Universitat de Barcelona.
