Luis F. Quintana is a Nephrology Consultant and leads the Complex Glomerular Disease Unit of the Nephrology and Kidney Transplant Service at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, ​​which is a reference center in the Spanish Health System. He is a recognized researcher at the Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS) and Associate Professor of the Department of Medicine at the University of Barcelona, ​​where he coordinates the subject of kidney diseases in the Master of Autoimmune Diseases. He is currently the coordinator of the Nephropathology committee of the Hospital Clínic and tutor of residents.

Dr. Quintana graduated in Medicine in 1997. From 1998 to 2001 he specialized in Internal Medicine at the University Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario (Bogotá, Colombia). Between 2001-2005 he specialized in Nephrology at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and in 2009 he obtained a doctorate in biomedicine and an extraordinary doctorate award from the University of Barcelona for his thesis about the role of urinary proteomics in chronic graft dysfunction. His postdoctoral experience includes a two-year stage at the Lupus and Vasculitis Clinic of the Department of Medicine at the University of Cambridge (UK). Dr. Quintana is member of the Catalan, Spanish and European Nephrology Societies, coordinator of the working group on glomerular disease of the Catalan Society of Nephrology and member of the European Vasculitis Society.

Dr. Quintana has presented around 50 international papers, published more than 70 scientific articles (h index: 23), has been invited as a professor at Latin American universities and is member of the advisory committee editorial of the Colombian Journal of Rheumatology. He is also co-author of several book chapters on Primary and Secondary Glomerular Diseases.
